The rich cultural heritage of Gros Morne is strongly influenced by the sea and the fishery. If you’re interested in local history, traditions, knowledge and ideas, an opportunity to talk to local fishers should not be missed. Visitors to the island will also likely learn a few new words and expressions that reflect that intangible heritage.
This video was filmed during the GMIST Edge of the Wedge program, an experiential tourism training program, and features an onsite fishing experience with authentic fishers Louise Decker, Bob and Roger Payne, and the backdrop of their fishing village at Green Point.
