Passing the Time in Trout River
Passing the Time in Trout River is typically offered every Tuesday evening during the summer season. Local hosts, storytellers, musicians and craftspeople share stories, entertain and learn about life in the community of Trout River. Plans are in progress for the 2021 season with COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place, however these plans are subject to change based on the most up to date COVID-19 information. The most up to date information about the 2021 programming can be found on the Town of Trout River website.
The events begin with Wave Over Wave, a guided tour along the waterfront of Trout River. Starting at the interpretation centre, the walk features wool spinning, highlights of community history, and the story of the local fishery with a demonstration of splitting and salting codfish.
There is also the opportunity to take in one of the workshops with local musicians and craftspeople.
Passing the Time is an evening of entertainment in the tradition of the Newfoundland kitchen party. Guests will enjoy traditional music and storytelling with local hosts and special guests.
